Three-row SUVs have overtaken minivans as the vehicle of choice for people who need extra interior space. The main reason for this shift is probably the SUV’s superior versatility. While a minivan only fits one purpose, a three-row SUV can work well in many circumstances, including towing jobs and off-road adventures. The 2024 Kia Telluride is a good example of a three-row SUV that can transport your kids to school and take on challenging off-road terrains. Read as our Huffines Kia McKinney team shares more about this capable vehicle.
What’s New for 2024?
The 2024 Kia Telluride is part of its first generation, which Kia first launched in 2020. With its current success as a relatively new addition to the Kia SUV lineup, the 2024 Telluride is much like the 2023 model. There are some minor exterior upgrades, though. The Telluride now comes with standard amber daytime running lights, while higher trims come with gloss black exterior accents.
Great Features in Any Trim
The 2024 Kia Telluride has five trim levels: the LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. If you want to boost its off-roading capability for adventures around McKinney, you can do so with the help of two additional packages. You can add the X-Line package to the last three trims, while the X-Pro package is available for the SX and SX Prestige. Let’s detail what you can expect on each trim level.
LX Trim
The 2024 Telluride’s standard trim has many practical and attractive features. They include 18-inch wheels, keyless entry and push-button start, dual-zone automatic control, seating for up to eight passengers, LED headlights, and synthetic leather upholstery. On the technological side, it comes with a large 12.3-inch touch-screen interface with integrated navigation, a six-speaker sound system, and smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
S Trim
The next trim builds on the standard version by adding some desirable features. Some notable ones are heated front seats, roof rails, a wireless phone charger, 20-inch wheels, and a spectacular optional sunroof. It also comes with second-row captain’s chairs, which reduces the maximum number of passengers to seven but increases comfort.
EX Trim
This trim reverts to the eight-seat configuration and adds more features, including a hands-free liftgate, power-folding exterior mirrors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. It also upgrades interior comfort by adding leather seats, sound-absorbing front door window glass, and a power-adjustable passenger seat.
SX Trim
The SX trim has all the features of the EX and adds a few new ones. Some notable examples are dual sunroofs, a driver’s seat with memory settings, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster display, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. It also builds on an impressive list of advanced driver aids, which we’ll discuss later.
SX Prestige Trim
As the name suggests, this trim adds a bit of luxury and elegance to the Telluride. It includes heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, premium leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, and a head-up display with essential information on the vehicle’s windshield. There’s also an optional towing package, which increases Telluride’s towing capacity by adding a tow hitch with a trailer wiring harness connector and self-leveling rear suspension.
X-Line and X-Pro Packages
The X-Line package transforms the 2024 Telluride from a capable passenger carrier to a rugged all-terrain beast without compromising comfort. It raises its suspension by 0.4 inches and adds 20-inch wheels with all-season tires, a superior traction control system, higher roof rails, and standard all-wheel drive. It also upgrades the exterior styling with a gloss black trim and a unique grille design.
The X-Pro package has all the features of the X-Line and a few more. It includes an off-road-oriented suspension and all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels and boosts Telluride’s towing capacity from 5,000 to 5,500 pounds.
Power and Performance
While it offers comfort, technology, and off-roading capability, the 2024 Telluride is also powerful and high-performing. All trims come with a capable 3.8-liter V-6 engine with an output of up to 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It pushes the Telluride from zero to 60 mph in only 7.5 seconds, which is impressive given its size and all-around capability.
Space and Comfort
Regardless of trim, the 2024 Kia Telluride is a highly comfortable vehicle. The seats are supportive enough to keep everyone in place but soft enough to be comfortable even on long drives. The suspension system helps it go over minor bumps smoothly, even when you add off-road features. The excellent noise insulation adds to the comfort by keeping most outside noises from entering the cabin.
Useful Standard Safety Features
The 2023 version of the Telluride got maximum safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Since the 2024 version is similar, there’s no reason not to expect similar marks. But it also has an impressive list of standard active safety features that help you avoid imminent dangers. Some of them are as follows:
- Blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert: It alerts you if a vehicle is in your blind spot. It uses similar technology to warn if another vehicle is about to cross from either side while you’re backing up.
- Forward collision mitigation system: It senses an imminent frontal collision and issues a loud warning. It also applies the brakes automatically if you don’t do so immediately.
- Adaptive cruise control: It maintains a steady speed and adjusts it to keep a constant distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you.
