MillHouse Fests

MillHouse Foundation and Cotton Mill Partners are working together to present two artistic festivals this summer.

Outdoor MuralFest

This is the second year that the juried MillHouse MuralFest will be held at the McKinney Cotton Mill. On Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, the festival will be open to the public for free. The mural participants will create up to 18 original pieces on the exterior walls of the historic mill, and they’ll also paint mobile murals for submission in the festival’s auction.

As you view the muralists designing their new works, you can indulge in beverages, food, and live music by local performers. Feel free to bring children of all ages to enjoy the fun activities that will dazzle them. To further support the festival and the non-profit organizations that are involved, you can purchase a VIP pass. This special pass includes a festival T-shirt and glass, 20 food and drink tickets, and admission to the artists’ reception on Friday, June 2.

Indoor ArtFest

Find solace from the Texas summer heat at this indoor art festival on Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27. Revel in the juried work of local talented artists against the backdrop of the century-old cotton mill. The Grand Hallway, Atrium Hallway, and Event Hall will also be utilized for ArtFest this year. Local restaurants and catering services will serve delicious food and beverages.

Sips of Summer

The Downtown McKinney Sips of Summer is part of the McKinney Sip & Stroll Series, which hosts five events yearly. This particular event is on Aug. 19. Head out onto the McKinney Performing Arts Center lawn to interact with 20 to 30 vendors. Walk along the sideroads in the historic downtown area, and support the local shops and boutiques. Adult beverages are available for patrons who are at least 21 years old.

Sips of Summer, like its counterparts, gifts the proceeds from each event to a local non-profit. Thousands of dollars are donated to help a charitable McKinney establishment. Food, local musicians, and thrills are always plentiful for these strolls. Be sure to get your signature taster and stroll map when you arrive. An exciting prize will be awarded to the winner of a scavenger hunt. Be sure to purchase your ticket quickly when they go on sale because they normally sell out fast.
