KHYI’s 27th Annual Texas Music Revolution
The country music station KHYI 95.3 The Range hosts an annual music event downtown every summer. This year is no exception. In its 27th year, the Texas Music Revolution will occur on Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, in McKinney Square. With more than 75 bands performing on over 15 stages, you’ll be able to enjoy numerous talents. Some of the acts that are scheduled to perform are Shane Smith & The Saints, Robert Earl Keen, Adam Hood, Charlie Robison, and Kevin Fowler.
All ages are welcome. Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance to secure a spot. Single-day tickets are available for Friday or Saturday, and weekend passes provide a discount for both days. If you want the entire experience, consider buying a VIP weekend pass to receive a custom VIP wristband, access to designated main stage VIP areas, priority entrance to participating venues, and exclusive promotions for participating businesses.

MillHouse Fests
MillHouse Foundation and Cotton Mill Partners are working together to present two artistic festivals this summer.
Outdoor MuralFest
This is the second year the juried MillHouse MuralFest will be held at the McKinney Cotton Mill. On Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, the festival will be open to the public for free. The mural participants will create up to 18 original pieces on the exterior walls of the historic mill and paint mobile murals for submission in the festival’s auction.
As you view the muralists designing their new works, you can indulge in beverages, food, and live music by local performers. Feel free to bring children of all ages to enjoy the fun activities that will dazzle them. You can purchase a VIP pass to further support the festival and the non-profit organizations involved. This special pass includes a festival T-shirt and glass, 20 food and drink tickets, and admission to the artists’ reception on Friday, June 2.
Indoor ArtFest
Find solace from the Texas summer heat at this indoor art festival on Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27. Revel in the juried work of local talented artists against the backdrop of the century-old cotton mill. The Grand Hallway, Atrium Hallway, and Event Hall will also be utilized for ArtFest this year. Local restaurants and catering services will serve delicious food and beverages.

Sips of Summer
The Downtown McKinney Sips of Summer is part of the McKinney Sip & Stroll Series, which hosts five events yearly. This event is on Aug. 19. Head onto the McKinney Performing Arts Center lawn to interact with 20 to 30 vendors. Walk along the historic downtown area sideroads and support the local shops and boutiques. Adult beverages are available for patrons who are at least 21 years old.
Like its counterparts, Sips of Summer gifts the proceeds from each event to a local non-profit. Thousands of dollars are donated to help a charitable McKinney establishment. Food, local musicians, and thrills are always plentiful for these strolls. Be sure to get your signature taster and stroll map when you arrive. An exciting prize will be awarded to the winner of a scavenger hunt. Be sure to purchase your ticket quickly when they go on sale because they normally sell out fast.

Art Camps at Jump Into Art Studios
With 13 years of experience, Jump Into Art is uniquely qualified to create and implement a curriculum for its students. The camp is a technology-free zone that incorporates plenty of outdoor time into its schedule. Below are three sets of art camp classes for 6- to 14-year-olds. They’re an ideal way for your kids to spend the summer:
Nature Lover Art Camp
Does your kid have a green thumb? Or do they want to learn how to be creative with nature? These camp classes are educational and fun for nature lovers and seekers. The staff helps participants work with sand, recycled materials, natural materials, clay, shells, and feathers. The Nature Lover Art Camp will occur Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21.
Art, Art and More Art Camp
Your younger ones will get a kick out of this immersive art camp that Jump Into Art Studios is offering. From Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4, your children can enjoy the following activities:
- Pottery.
- Printmaking.
- Ice tie dye.
- Soapmaking.
- Collages.
- Visits with experienced artists.
- Ice cream trips downtown.
- Tiny art.
Artist’s Choice Art Camp
Artist’s Choice will be held Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28. This camp is best suited for young individuals who excel when plenty of activities are available. These include crafting, painting, clay making, plein air painting, and journal or bookmaking. Additionally, they can participate in the same activities that the Art, Art, and More Art Camp offer.
Please don’t allow your children to bring phones or games with them. Be sure to review the policies and procedures for Jump Into Art when signing up for the camp. Before 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., early and late care is available for an additional cost.
