We’ve included a range of events so that you can have fun whether you’re bringing the kids or not. Keep reading to learn about our favorite spooky celebrations this October.

McKinney Spooktacular Brews and Boos Walk

Hosted by the McKinney Sip & Stroll Series, the Spooktacular Brews and Boos event is a great way to celebrate the season while tasting some of the best local craft brews. The event is in the heart of historic downtown McKinney and is perfect for a date night or an outing with friends. Like other McKinney Sip & Stroll events, Boos and Brews isn’t just a chance to taste local brews; it’s also a way to give back to the community. Proceeds from the event go toward local nonprofits and support various charitable causes.

This year, the Spooktacular Brews and Boos walk will take place on Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants are highly encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes and can win prizes for the spookiest and most extravagant outfits.

You’ll receive a special tasting glass branded for the event when you arrive. You’ll also get a map showing your route downtown to visit all the event’s vendors. The walk will feature 20 participating locations this year, each serving delicious beverages. While the focus is on local craft breweries, there will be plenty of options if you prefer something different. If you want to enter the costume contest, enter the tent near the entrance.

Aside from great beverages, you’ll be able to browse offerings from local vendors at the pop-up market at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. There will also be a photo booth so you and your friends can make memories and document your costumes. Tickets are 30 dollars per person and can be purchased online. Be sure to get yours early, as they can sell out quickly.

Halloween Costume Goat Yoga

Yep, you heard us right: Halloween-themed goat yoga is coming to McKinney this fall. If you’re wondering what that means, let us explain. During these events, you’ll have the opportunity to take a yoga class surrounded by a flock of baby goats. The goats will be dressed in their best Halloween costumes, and you won’t miss out. This event is perfect if you’re a yoga aficionado with a love for animals, and all the proceeds directly benefit the animals and a range of local nonprofits.

This year, two different Halloween costume goat yoga events will be held in McKinney. The first is hosted by HUB 121 and will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16. If you want to attend this event, bring your own mat and dress for the outdoors. The venue will provide beach towels, water, and sunscreen. The event is open to everyone; children over five can participate with an adult.

The next goat yoga event will occur on Sunday, Oct. 23, at TUPPS Brewery. While it’s a good idea to dress for the weather, you’re welcome to wear your costume. As with the previous event, it’s important to bring your own mat, although water, towels, and sunscreen will be available. After the event, there will be time to take pictures with the goats, and you’ll enjoy a fantastic brunch at the brewery. If you have kids, they’re welcome to accompany you.

Trick or Treat Events

Trick-or-treating is one of the best parts of the Halloween season and is a favorite with kids of all ages. If you’re looking for a safe and entertaining attraction for your kids this fall, McKinney will be hosting several trick-or-treating events and other festivities for youngsters. On Oct. 21, there will be a trick-or-treating march at the Senior Recreation Center. This free event provides safe fun for toddlers and young kids and is free to attend.

The Apex Centre will also be hosting its annual “Pumpkin Dunk” for kids of all ages on Oct. 22. Children can participate in the floating pumpkin patch, swim in the pool, and decorate their pumpkins at special stations. Starting at 9 a.m., each age group will have an hour. The groups include children ages 2 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 12, and special needs.

Finally, the City of McKinney will host the Trick or Treat trail event on Oct 22. Located at Towne Lake, this event is designed to provide a safe, fun atmosphere for kids to collect tasty treats. Trick or treating around the lake will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 6 p.m., after which there will be a concert until 9 p.m. McKinney has you covered if you’re looking for some great, family-friendly events this fall.
