2023 Kia Rio: Interior & Exterior Features, Price, Trims

The Kia Rio is a subcompact sedan ideal for commuting or as a teenager or college student’s first car. The Rio is affordable, drives and handles well, and is easy to park and maneuver through city traffic due to its small size. Enjoy learning more about the 2023 Kia Rio and why it may be a good fit for your driving needs and lifestyle.

What’s New in the 2023 Kia Rio?

Now in its fourth generation, the Kia Rio doesn’t have any significant changes from the previous year. One change Kia has made for the 2023 Rio is the addition of an oil-level sensor. If your Rio’s oil level drops too low, you’ll receive an alert letting you know. If you do get this alert, be sure to bring your Rio to our dealership in McKinney, Texas, for inspection to see why its oil level may be low.

Variety of Trim Levels

Kia offers the 2023 Rio in two trims: the base LX or the snazzy S. You can elevate your Rio S trim by adding the available S Technology Package to get upgrades such as LED headlights, stylish 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and push-button start. In addition, adding the package to your S trim gets you advanced driver-assist features, including:

  • Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.
  • Lane-keeping and lane-following assist technology.
  • High-beam headlight assist.
  • Rear occupant alert.
  • Driver attention warning.

Both trims come standard with an advanced air bag system, steel unibody structure, anti-lock braking, and electronic stability control. These standard systems help ensure the safety of you and your family while driving down the road.

Zippy Power and Agile Handling

Whether you’re maneuvering through city traffic or accelerating onto the freeway, you’ll appreciate how well the 2023 Rio handles. Under the hood of both trims, you’ll find a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 120 horsepower and 112 lb-ft of torque. An intelligent variable automatic transmission completes the powertrain. Both trims come with front-wheel drive for traction and stability.

You’ll notice how smooth the Rio rides with its front MacPherson struts, gas shock absorbers, and stabilizer bar. In the rear, the 2023 Rio gets a coupled torsion beam axle and twin tube shock absorbers. In addition, both the LX and S trim have an electric motor-driven power steering system for ease of turning and maneuvering.

Upgraded Exterior and Handsome Styling

The 2023 Rio is a smart-looking sedan with muscular accents. From the front of the car, you’ll notice the contemporary design of Kia’s tiger-nose grille bracketed by large rectangular-shaped halogen headlights. The clean lines of the door and body panels and the sloped roof give the 2023 Rio a sleek and aerodynamic profile that draws the eye. When you look at the back of the Rio, you’ll see the taillights integrated with the body and trunk lid that sits above the bold-looking rear bumper.

Color options for the LX trim include Clear White, Silky Silver, and Aurora Black. Choose the S trim, and you’ll get the addition of Steel Gray, Currant Red, and Sporty Blue exterior color options.

Upgraded and Comfortable Interior

The 2023 Kia Rio interior is roomy and well appointed. This subcompact sedan can fit up to five people comfortably, with an overall passenger volume of 89.9 cubic feet. Both the LX and S trims come with tricot and woven cloth seat trim, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, and two complete sets of Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children connectors to help secure a child’s seat.

While you get 13.7 cubic feet of space in the trunk of both trims of the Rio, the S trim gains a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. This feature allows you to carry longer items and provides more flexible seating and storage solutions. To make it easier to load and unload supplies or groceries into the Rio’s trunk, the S trim has remote keyless entry with trunk release.

The LX trim has black interior trim on the tricot and woven cloth, and the S trim gets the addition of gray interior trim.

The S trim also gets a sliding armrest with a storage bin for extra space to carry small personal items, such as a cell phone or sunglasses. In addition, this trim comes with steering-wheel-mounted controls for hands-on driving without the distraction of trying to find the right button to adjust the infotainment system or cruise control.

Innovative Technology

Kia gives the 2023 Rio plenty of modern technology features sure to please everyone in the family. Kia’s infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Listen to your audio through the six-speaker sound system through the infotainment system or via Bluetooth and your streaming platforms. In the front of the LX trim, you get one USB port, and the S trim adds a USB port in the back.

When you buy the Rio S trim, you have the option to upgrade to Kia Connect and get a subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. Kia Connect is an advanced communications and information system used for fine-tuning the radio, roadside assistance, virtual assistance, and vehicle diagnostics.

The Perfect Price

You can’t beat the price of the 2023 Kia Rio. The MSRP for the base LX trim starts at $16,750, and the top-tier S trim starts at $17,390. Adding packages or optional features will cost a bit more, but the Kia Rio’s price makes it one of the most affordable vehicles on the market today.
