Trim Levels

Kia offers the Sorento in five trim levels: the LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims. The optional X-Line all-wheel-drive (AWD) package is available on the S, EX, and SX Prestige. That said, cargo volume is uniform across the lineup. You have 12.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row, which could be 45 cubic feet if you fold the third row. For larger items, you can fold the second and third rows to gain a total of 75.5 cubic feet of storage capacity.
As expected, features continue to upgrade as you move from the base model S up to the top-tier SX Prestige. First, let’s take a closer look at each trim’s interior.
Sorento LX Trim
The remote keyless entry system gets you inside the LX. Once inside, you have premium cloth upholstery, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and a four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat. You can seat up to seven passengers in a 2-3-2 configuration. The 60/40 split-folding second-row bench seat slides and folds with one-touch capability. The 50/50 split-folding third-row folds flat or reclines for additional comfort.
An 8-inch touch screen operates your in-vehicle technology. In addition, you can sync your smart devices with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth pre-loaded on the system. Syncing your devices gives you hands-free calling, access to your favorite playlists, navigation, and more using simple, intuitive voice commands.
You also have a six-speaker AM/FM/HD radio system, and you can use steering-wheel-mounted controls for all your cruise and audio functions. In addition, Kia installed two USB charging ports in the front row console, another in the second row, and two more in the third row. Plus, you have one USB data port in the front console.
A manually operated air conditioner comes standard. You also have power door locks and power windows with one-touch auto-up and auto-down for the driver.
Sorento S Trim
You get the upgraded Smart Key with Remote Start and Push-Button Start technology on the S trim. In addition, the S trim adds the durable and beautiful Syntex synthetic leather upholstery and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar support and thigh extension. You now have standard heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a shift knob. You also get an upgraded dual-zone automatic climate control system.
All your in-vehicle tech runs through the 10.25-inch touch screen with built-in SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. In addition, you get multi-device connectivity and voice recognition software to assist operations. You now have three instead of one USB outlet in the second row. You also get Kia Connect, Kia’s remote connectivity app enabling remote operations and vehicle diagnostics from your cellphone.
Sorento EX Trim
Building on the features of the S trim, the Sorento EX comes with second-row captain’s chairs standard. These captain’s chairs are also split-fold with one-touch capability. Real open-pore wood trim adds a sophisticated touch to the interior. Kia adds a wireless charging pad for more convenience. You can add LED interior and map lighting as an option on the EX trim.
Sorento SX Trim

The SX trim has the same features as the EX model, with a few new additions. You get an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat standard, plus standard LED interior and map lighting. In addition, the interior trim comes in stylish chrome and metal textures.
Sorento SX Prestige Trim
Kia’s top Sorento trim has some premium upgrades over the lower trims. These upgrades include genuine perforated leather seats with the logo embossed on the seatbacks. The driver’s seat now has a 14-way power-adjusting capability. In addition, you get ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats, plus a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters.
Kia installed a large 12.3-inch driver information LCD screen that tracks your critical driving data. In addition, you now have a 12-speaker premium audio system from Bose standard. All your power windows operate with a one-touch automatic up/down feature.
Powertrain Options
Your Kia Sorento will have one of two engines, depending on the trim you choose. The LX and S trims use a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with double overhead camshafts and 16 valves with continuously variable valve timing, gasoline direct injection, and multi-port fuel injection technology. Kia pairs this engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain produces 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, and it tows up to 2,500 pounds.
The EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims have a turbocharged version of the same engine paired with an eight-speed dual-wet-clutch automatic transmission. This powertrain produces an impressive 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and it can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.
Every trim comes standard with a capable front-wheel-drive system. On the S, EX, and SX Prestige models, you can add Kia’s X-Line AWD. This AWD system features torque vectoring, which improves stability and control over various surfaces by increasing brake pressure on the inside wheels when turning. You also get customizable drive modes to tailor your power and drive train to match the road conditions.
